UGT Launches Pioneering Report to Address the Housing Crisis from a Trade Union Perspective
UGT has released the report “Trade Union Analysis and Proposals to Expand the Right to Housing”, an innovative tool that places housing at the center of social and labor debate.
The study, promoted by the Espacio de Vivienda Digna, combines a survey of 4,312 union members with interviews with experts. One of the most revealing findings is the gap between those with a mortgage (mostly allocating between 21% and 35% of their salary) and those who rent (nearly 40% spend more than 41% of their income). The report highlights UGT’s historical role in advocating for housing since 1911 and underscores the need to consolidate the constitutional right to housing by promoting its inclusion in collective bargaining.
