Housing, Urban Planning and Automation: Challenges of Artificial Intelligence
Tuesday, 5 May 2026, from 12:00 to 14:00 h, in hybrid format at the Faculty of Law of the University of Barcelona
The Barcelona Chair of Housing Studies (CBEH) is organising the conference Housing, Urban Planning and Automation: Challenges of Artificial Intelligence, which will take place on 5 May 2026 in hybrid format (in-person and online). The event will be held at the Graduation Hall of the Faculty of Law of the University of Barcelona (Av. Diagonal, 684) and is free of charge, with a certificate of participation provided.
The conference will start at 12:00 h with a welcome speech by Dr. Andreu Olesti, Dean of the Faculty of Law of the UB, followed by an introduction on the possibilities and limits of automation delivered by Dr. Juli Ponce Solé, co-director of the Chair.
At 12:10 h, Juan Carlos Álvarez Rodríguez, General Director of Building of the Madrid City Council, will give a talk entitled Automation of urban planning functions and public procurement: the experience of Madrid. At 12:55 h, Clàudia Gimeno Fernández (O. València) will present When the cloud touches the ground. Territorial and urban planning of the infrastructure needed to develop AI.
From 13:30 h onwards, a round table on Artificial Intelligence and Housing will take place, moderated by Dr. Montserrat Pareja-Eastaway, co-director of the Barcelona Chair of Housing Studies. The speakers will be joined by Miriam Alvarado, Director of the Directorate of Technology Services and Digital Transformation of Infrastructures and Urban Planning of the Municipal Institute of Infrastructures of Barcelona (BIT). The event will end at 14:00 h.
