The EU adopts a new decision on services of general economic interest, with a specific annex on housing

On 16 December 2025, the European Commission adopted the new Decision on Services of General Economic Interest («SGEI Decision»). This revision updates the State aid rules to facilitate investment in affordable housing at national, regional and local levels. The revision also aims to simplify, update and clarify various elements of the SGEI Decision. It contains a specific annex on housing.
